PRIMENT is one of the 17 fully registered UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) Clinical Trials Units in the UK.
PRIMENT was recognised by the UK CRC panel of international experts as one of the few CTUs that met a number of key competencies and for its strengths in conducting major trials and other large well designed studies.
Over the years the strategic direction of the Clinical Trials Unit has evolved from the research activities undertaken by the collaboration. This includes research on the evaluation of complex mental health interventions in primary care (e.g. evaluation of CBT, stepped care for depression, care packages for severe mental illnesses, self help packages for chronic illnesses;
educational interventions for general practitioners to assist the implementation of CBT for depression and to promote rational drug prescribing).
PRIMENT has particular strength in research on primary care, mental health, health services research, cardiovascular medicine and more recently in child health.
